The other gossip from the Royal Welsh show was about how FAT the horses are. Now, every six weeks or so, my friends and I have to get our weight checked. She puts a tape around our middles to check this (painless). Whenever our vet comes, she does the same (we sometimes get a lecture). Checking our weight is all about making sure our feet don’t hurt, because, being horses, we just eat constantly and we are quite capable of making ourselves ill without realising it.

So, going back to the show, why isn’t someone taking care of the horses in the ring? The ground is so hard this year, and they are so fat, they must be storing up problems for the near and distant future! Poor shiny show horses – I wish someone cared for you like my people care for me!
